Overview
This role supports a global manufacturer specializing in specialty chemicals and advanced materials, driving new business development across the Americas.
You will lead feasibility studies, technology evaluations, and market research while engaging with startups, potential partners, and industry experts.
Working closely with teams in the U.S. and Japan, you will help identify collaboration opportunities, support early-stage R&D discussions, and deliver consistent reporting to guide strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
Conduct feasibility studies, technology-matching assessments, and preliminary experiments with partners and potential customers.
Lead market research and competitive analysis to support technology- and materials-driven business opportunities.
Source innovative startups in relevant technology and materials domains through databases, venture capital networks, industry events, and exhibitions.
Facilitate discussions with partners, customers, and key opinion leaders to support joint R&D considerations.
Prepare accurate meeting minutes and timely updates for every partner engagement; maintain thorough documentation.
Collaborate with headquarters in Japan to identify and evaluate potential collaboration partners.
Produce monthly activity reports and contribute insights to inform strategic decisions.
Apply strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills to advance business development initiatives.
Prioritize multiple projects with strong time management and organizational skills.
Work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively to cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in business development, technology evaluation, market research, or related fields (experience in chemicals, materials, or manufacturing industries preferred).
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Close attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly.
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Japanese language ability preferred.
Ability to travel 1–2 days per month.
