Overview:
Join an IT-leading company specializing in network and system solutions with a global presence. We are seeking an experienced Accountant to support our New York headquarters. This role is pivotal in managing daily accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy, and supporting strategic financial decisions.
Requirements:
5+ years experience in accounting.
Japanese and English bilingual.
Regular attendance at the NY office (5 days a week).
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong experience in US GAAP and general accounting practices in the US.
Proficiency with accounting software, especially Microsoft Dynamics Solomon.
Experience with software beyond QuickBooks is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations:
Supervise and guide staff accountants in handling A/P, A/R, and G/L data entries.
Authorize corporate checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
Manage payroll funding, liaising with payroll companies.
Oversee 401K program maintenance, ensuring IRS compliance.
Prepare and file sales tax returns.
Monitor and compare expenses with the monthly budget.
Resolve vendor disputes, maintaining the company’s credit standing.
Respond to tax compliance inquiries from Sales & Marketing and management in coordination with CPA.
Monthly Closing and Reporting:
Finalize AR processing and customer invoicing.
Oversee monthly closing activities, including payroll, depreciation, amortization, and adjustments.
Prepare and report financial statements (BS, PL, CS) to management.
Participate in monthly meetings, reporting on financial activities and events affecting the company.
Quarterly Closing:
Prepare and present quarterly financial data for consolidation with Japan headquarters.
Adjust and finalize quarterly trial balances.
Engage with auditors on quarterly financial activities, if required.
Annual Reporting & Taxation:
Prepare various tax returns (e.g., 1099, 1042, sales & use tax) and liaise with external tax accountants.
Ensure accurate filing of federal, state, and local taxes.
Collaborate on transfer pricing documentation for income tax purposes.
Business Planning & Budgeting:
Contribute to the preparation of the annual business plan and budget.
Cash Management:
Monitor and forecast cash balances, addressing issues with financial institutions as necessary.
Audit Preparation:
Prepare for and coordinate with auditors on annual financial audits.
